Check Up Consultation
My check-up consultation is a one-hour meeting via Zoom where we create a mock-up of your tax return and discuss the results, including any opportunities to decrease your tax liability, if possible. This helps you know what to expect when we are ready to file for real!
I offer these from May to December, but recommend scheduling in July if you want to check in mid year and November if you would like an 'end of year snapshot' that will be more accurate.
Check up consultation Zoom calls are recorded and you'll receive a copy of the recording. I'll also send you a copy of the mocked-up return (NOT to be used for filing!) and a personalized action list of things we discuss.
Step 1: Pay $100 fee and schedule your appointment.
Step 2: Drake Portals
Drake Portals is a free, secure file sharing and messaging service I use throughout the tax preparation process. If you are a new client, you should receive an email invitation to Drake Portals within 48 hours of booking. This is done manually, so please be patient! Activate your Drake Portals account and fill out the "Client Profile".
If you are a returning client, you should use your existing Drake portal. If you've forgotten your login details or aren't sure where to go, please reach out so I can help!
Step 3: Upload/Send Information
In order to get an accurate estimation, I need accurate numbers! This includes:
- You and your spouse's (if applicable) latest paycheck stub
- You and your spouse's (if applicable) business income, rental income, investment income, gambling income, or unimployment income
- The sums of any other income you've had throughout the year so far
- Deductions for any business income or rental income
- Any deductions you may be able to itemize, such as mortgage interest, charity, or medical deductions
Step 4: Upload Previous Years Returns
Please upload your tax returns from at least the previous 3 years for review. If you have already provided these returns in previous years, there is no need to re-upload them!
Step 5: Appointment
Load up the Zoom link from your original booking confirmation email and I'll see you there!
